What’s unique about this role?

The Director, Information Governance leads client engagements in Information Governance while also managing a team of employees within the larger practice.   The Director, Information Governance is responsible for both executing and ensuring that the IG Consulting team executes the high-level implementation of various types of client engagements involving discovery for complex litigation, regulatory investigations, and other dispute situations.    

What will this person do?

Leadership: Lead strategy and operations in a results-oriented manner to promote team and individual excellence.  This includes the ability to:
  • Support the VP, Information Governance in defining offerings; collaborating with finance to set pricing; create and maintain KPIs to measure success of the IG Consulting team, manage headcount to support client needs.
  • Responsible for supporting the sales process by co-selling and being the “executive closer” for the above offerings.
  • Drive client engagements, including post-sales transition, scoping, discovery sessions, drafting deliverables, and presenting deliverables to client stakeholders; responsible for mapping client organizations and understanding corporate political, security, change management, etc., dynamics to drive effective results.  
  • Responsible for sourcing candidates in partnership with our PAC team, setting compensation ranges, and making hiring decisions.
  • Support the Sales team and Service Delivery with business expansion through business development efforts.
  • Partner with peers across the organization to drive consensus and create alignment for cross-organization initiatives.

 

People Management: Manage team of Information Governance Consultants and be responsible for resource planning and performance management; tracking key performance indicators, and leading team engagement and culture. Duties include:

  • Embrace Lighthouse unified culture, including a large remote workforce.
  • Motivate and develop others. Create individual development plans, complete annual reviews, and perform bi-weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Set priorities and effectively manage time.
  • Deal with ambiguity and solve problems.
  • Drive for results.

 

Client Experience: Develop and sustain a positive Client Experience through the development of solid client relationships and ensuring consistency in consultative communication and standards.  Duties include:

  • Lead client consulting engagements including, but not limited to, assessing client’s current discovery practices, identifying gaps (impacting time, cost, and risk) in those practices, analyzing alternatives, and developing and implementing tangible and actionable strategies and business processes to address those gaps.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing clients or referral sources which can either lead to expanded roles on existing or new engagements.
  • Partner with Sales and Client Onboarding to drive implementation, opportunity development, budget forecasting and tracking, adoption of new products and services, and regular feedback and review meetings.
  • Consult with clients to drive strategy and innovative solutions.
  • Partner with IG Project Management Director to ensure communication protocols are met, including response times, communication templates, and standard reporting.
  • Document client specifications and preferences.


Execution:  Execute and demonstrate an action orientation that drives results in the areas of technology, workflow and process mastery, issue resolution, and department and/or company objectives and initiatives.  Responsibilities include:

 

  • Strategic project management duties when requested including:
  • Determination of project scope and approach;
  • Development of a work program where appropriate, and implementation of such in conjunction with the project management team as well as the sales team, and the allocation of tasks to each participant in the project;
  • Control of total consultant time and out-of-pocket expenses on the assignment either against a predetermined budget or based upon prior experience on similar assignments;
  • Billable hour utilization;
  • Serve as the escalation contact with the client when necessary or on a day-to-day basis for consulting engagements.  
  • Identify areas of need for training and provide training and/or collaborate with Learning & Development as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • 10+ years' experience in Legal Services, Legal Sales, Operations, or Consulting Firms, in large enterprise service business.  Experience working with mid-to-large clients is preferred.
  • At least seven years of management experience in a service or related industry.
  • Business, technical, and/or legal degrees/certifications highly desired, e.g., MBA, JD, CPA, PMI, ARMA, ACEDS, etc.
  • Strong professional and leadership presence.
  • Strong initiative to provide support across the company to complete common goals.
  • Drive and passion to lead and execute client engagements successfully.
  • Emotional and political intelligence to understand internal complexities of client department and navigate such complexities successfully.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to client service towards internal and external clients.
  • Exceptional diligence and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance many priorities and to work under pressure while remaining calm.
  • Ability to be a collaborator and to collaborate with the various teams across the Company.
  • Willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and to rapidly changing requirements.
  • When required, possess a desire to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment in order to meet deadlines.
  • Adherence to processes and procedures while remaining results-oriented and “thinking outside the box”.


Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).

The salary range for this position may be tailored to be lower or higher in different talent markets.
