Overview:
Mitel is seeking a highly motivated Data Protection Specialist to join our global Data Protection Department and help Mitel meet its obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other data protection laws. Acting as a key advisor to Mitel’s internal teams, particularly our Sales organization, you will help translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, commercially aligned solutions.
Working directly with Mitel’s Chief Compliance and Group Data Protection Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping our data protection strategy, guiding colleagues across the business, and influencing decision-making. Responsibilities:
As a Data Protection Specialist, you will be required to:
Act as a primary point of contact for data protection matters by providing clear, actionable guidance to stakeholders across business units and regions.
work closely with Mitel’s Sales teams within the DACH region to provide strategic insights, negotiation support, and counsel internal stakeholders on customers’ privacy inquiries;
review internal and external commercial contracts with a focus on data protection requirements;
advise on data protection compliance, risk management and review Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) to ensure business stakeholders receive accurate and timely guidance;
participate in the development, maturity and implementation of Mitel’s global Data Protection Management Program;
assist in monitoring internal compliance and helping business functions meet requirements under applicable data protection laws and regulations;
develop and maintain processes, templates, and documentation to support compliant personal data processing activities;
perform risk assessments (DPIAs, TIAs, LIAs), support incident response and manage data subject rights requests;
maintain and improve Mitel’s RoPA;
participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance monitoring activities;
review new products, services, features, and projects to ensure privacy by design/default principles are incorporated throughout the product lifecycle;
monitor global data protection regulatory landscape and make recommendations to the DPO;
drive training, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the organization’s data protection culture.
Requirements:
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Native or advanced German language skills (written and verbal) are required.
University degree or equivalent professional experience in compliance, legal, or audit. (data protection certification is a plus)
1–5 years of experience in data protection compliance or legal.
Capabilities & Mindset
Excellent communication skills, including written guidance and presentation delivery.
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Comfortable working independently and within a global team across various time zones.
Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to influence change.

Detail-oriented with the ability to deliver accurate, reliable, and high-quality work.
Strong knowledge of EU data protection laws and a solid understanding of other key global privacy frameworks.
Experience in reviewing contracts, working with Sales and supporting throughout negotiation and contracting process.
Ability to advise business stakeholders confidently and translate legal requirements and concepts into practical guidance.
Familiarity with IT Security, data governance, and relevant regulations and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIS2 or NIST.
Curiosity about AI, digital ethics, and emerging technologies.
