Chief of Staff, Chief AI & Data Officer
Overview
Mastercard’s AI & Data organization is seeking a strategic, high-impact Chief of Staff to partner directly with the Chief AI & Data Officer and the senior leadership team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, strategic alignment, and cross-functional execution across a dynamic and rapidly evolving technology landscape. The AI & Data organization encompasses the full spectrum of data infrastructure, analytical platforms, AI capabilities, and engineering teams supporting Mastercard’s Services product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partner to the Chief AI & Data Officer: Act as a trusted advisor, thought partner, and operational leader to the Chief AI & Data Officer, helping shape and execute the organization’s vision and priorities.
Drive Exceptional Execution Across the AI & Data Team: Understand and track priorities, ensure items are addressed, and identify areas where the team could be operating more effectively and efficiently
Operational Excellence & Decision Enablement: Lead rhythm-of-business activities including QOR, earnings preparation, and strategic reviews. Synthesize insights, identify risks and opportunities, and enable data-driven decision-making.
Executive Team Coordination: Orchestrate leadership offsites, weekly directs, and cross-functional forums to foster alignment, accountability, and collaboration. Drive follow-through on strategic initiatives and ensure visibility of progress.
Enterprise Alignment & Influence: Collaborate across Mastercard’s ecosystem—including Core Products, Commercial, New Payment Flows, Finance, People & Culture, Legal, Marketing, and MA Technology —to ensure AI & Data initiatives are aligned with broader enterprise goals.
Executive Communications & Narrative Development: Craft compelling internal and external narratives, executive presentations, and strategic messaging for audiences ranging from the Board to global teams. Drive clarity and engagement through Quarterly Business Reviews, governance forums, newsletters, and leadership communications.
Employee Engagement & Culture Stewardship: Champion employee experience through All Hands meetings, community engagement, and other cultural initiatives in partnership with People & Culture.
Program Leadership: Lead and manage high-impact, cross-functional programs and initiatives. Navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and deliver outcomes that move the business forward.
Confidential Advisor: Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Anticipate organizational dynamics and proactively address challenges with tact and insight.
About You
Experience as an Operational Leader: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Prior Chief of Staff role is a plus.
Executive Presence & Influence: Proven ability to operate at the highest levels of the organization, influencing senior stakeholders and driving strategic outcomes.
Strategic Communicator: Exceptional writing and storytelling skills; adept at translating complex strategies into clear, compelling narratives.
Analytical & Insightful: Strong business acumen and analytical skills; able to distill data into actionable insights and recommendations.
Trusted Partner: Demonstrated ability to build trust, manage confidential information, and navigate sensitive organizational dynamics.
Agile & Adaptive: Comfortable with ambiguity and change; thrives in dynamic environments and brings creativity to problem-solving.
Relationship Builder: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams and functions.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Purchase, New York: $192,000 - $307,000 USD
New York City, New York: $200,000 - $320,000 USD
